Real People, Real Solutions

As a grandmother, I’ve never been more concerned about the future of this great nation. That’s why I’m running for Congress. I’m fed up with an Administration that places corporate interests above the needs of the people. I’m fed up with a President that places himself above the law. I’m fed up with a Congress that refuses to allow investigations and refuses to demand accountability. Here in Pinellas County, we’ve got real people with real problems. This means we need real dialogue and real solutions. This unjust and immoral war is bankrupting our nation, creating new enemies everyday and putting our globe at risk. The bleeding has to stop. Let’s set new priorities. Let’s transform our energy policy from fossil fuels to renewable sources, promote Pinellas County as the solar capital of the U.S.A., provide health insurance for all Americans, rebuild public education, retool our manufacturing, create living wage jobs and provide affordable housing and security to our Veterans, our seniors and the most vulnerable.

Be a part of our grass roots movement. We needed 4088 signed petitions to get on the ballot. We got 4089. Every single person counts, regardless of color, shape, size, sex, creed or religious belief. There’s room for you. Join us and let’s take back our government from the greed, malfeasance, corruption and cronyism that runs rampant. Your grandchildren will thank you.

Proving that checks and balances still exist – at least from the judicial branch of government – today U.S. District Court Judge Anna Taylor became the first judge to strike down the National Security Agency’s program, which she says violates the rights to free speech and privacy.

Here is an analysis from Glenn Greenwald.

Expect a fight from Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, who was quoted in the New York TImes; ” We will continue to utilize the program to ensure that America is safer.” The article by David Stout and referenced above reads, “Mr. Gonzales said he remained confident that the program was constitutional, and that Congress had given the president all the authority he needed when it authorized the use of military force after the Sept. 11 attacks.

Let us remain vigilant. Let us remain commited to our nation, our constitution and our freedoms. We will take our country back for the people.
