Taxi to the Darkside

Thursday, April 24 2008 @ 03:31AM

Come join us at the beautiful Beach Theatre for the chilling Award Winning Documentary, "Taxi to the Darkside" this weekend.

Directed by Alex Gibney,, "Taxi to the Darkside" documents the stark and terrifying role that torture has played in Iraq and Afghanistan. The director weaves the story of the terror tactics wrought by the Bush administration in the wake of 9/11 and an innocent Afghan cab driver named Dilawar - apprehended by Afghan militia in December of 2002. Dilawar was turned over to American officials, only to die at Bagram Air Force base after being in custody for five days. The cause of death was homicide.

"Taxi from the Darkside" also takes its name from comments by Vice President Dick Cheney during an NBC Meet the Press interview that aired on September 16, 2001

"We have to work the dark side, if you will. Spend time in the shadows of the intelligence world," Cheney said. "A lot of what needs to be done here will have to be done quietly, without any discussion..."

I will be at the theater to meet fellow Patriots at (April 25) Friday's 8 P.M. showing and at Saturday's (April 26) viewing at 6:45 P.M. If you can't make one of those showings, here is the schedule through May 1.

Our nation is still engaged in a tragic occupation. With the economic difficulties facing many, and the detachment of our daily lives from the death and destruction in Iraq, it is important to see films that remind us of the grim reality that has hijacked our nation.

Please support the Beach Theater and their courage in showing these difficult, yet critically important films. Tell them the Samm Simpson campaign sent you, and it may encourage them to have more political films on the venue.

We need your help in our campaign as well. Can you give a few hours a week? What skills would you like to share? This is a people's movement, this campaign is for you. Donations, small and large are encouraged and appreciated.

See you at the movies,

Samm
